Especially after seeing chestnut hair colors all over Pinterest—and on our favorite celebs, we're sold and ready to make a change. It’s not quite red or strawberry blonde, it’s definitely not brown, and there are so many beautifully blended tones in it. This is more of a golden chestnut base with just enough red, gold, and blonde highlights to create a molten, fiery rose gold concoction. Reddish chestnut hair is popular, but don’t forget about golden chestnut hues. An all-over golden chestnut shade is fairly close to blonde, but if you use it as highlights, it also pairs beautifully with very dark, almost black hair.

Golden Blonde Highlights For Chestnut Brown

We love how this metallic bronze shade has discrete pink accents. The blended tones result in a radiant rose gold chestnut color. Mahogany is yet another chestnut shade that will seem like the hair color you were born with. You can go for a reddish shade of chestnut, especially if you have pale skin and hazel eyes. If you fall under the warm or neutral undertones categories, chestnut hair color will be a great fit for you! Any shade of chestnut color can work for different skin tones (fair/light, medium, and deep). Muted auburn tones allow the golden undertones of chestnut hair color to shine, and a lighter level of depth will make those undertones even more apparent! This rich shade shines like a bright coppery brown with golden tones that make it sparkle in the sunlight. Regardless of what you might think, there is a chestnut brown hair color for everyone. A dark chestnut shade with lighter tips is well suited to brunettes with longer hair.

The bright shading of our favorite red-brown tone plays in stark contrast to the roots, drawing the eye down and making your hair look longer. The base of this dynamic color is a mahogany—almost cinnamon—brown. Chestnut highlights all over lighten up the tone, and painted, honey-blonde babylights give a golden shimmer around the ends.

This dark chestnut has very dark roots, in case you are still unsure of what kind of shades you want to go for. The ends of the hair become lighter and lighter but overall, this is still a dark hair shade. If you want glossy, you can have glossy, especially with this dark chestnut color balayage that looks like it has been taken out of a magazine.

The highlights are focused on the ends so they enhance the haircut and look spontaneous. Instead of going for highlights, opt for some copper hair color lowlights on your dark locks. You can also play around with a chestnut auburn hair color if you want to tilt towards metallic red more. Turn your brown hair color up a notch with even more reddish accents.

Again, it’s all about that specific warmth that these shades bring, and when mixed together, the result is truly unique. This will give you the contrast you crave without requiring a whole lot of maintenance. A deep espresso color from the roots to the midshaft anchors this multi-toned look with a little depth.

Just look at this performance of rich shades on the delicate chestnut hair. This idea will give you an extra-dimensional look you could ever dream of. Style with soft waves to make those strands glow even more, and add some extra shine by using a bit of EIMI Glam Mist on the mid-lengths to the ends. If you’re thinking about going lighter for the first time, ask for a brunette balayage. A balayage is painted on highlights that look very natural by mimicking what the sun does to your hair naturally. Ask your stylist what tone will be best for your highlights depending on your natural color and undertones in your skin.

Years before she transitioned to a chic bob, Kaia Gerber sported long chestnut waves that seriously look so fresh with caramel-colored highlights. Olivia Palermo's short hair starts with a deep chocolate brown color and slowly transitions to chestnut at the ends, proving that any length can rock a balayage. Chestnut is an excellent way to experiment with darker hues because it’s so rich and multifaceted. Bring it to life with some auburn highlights for a wonderful effect.

Apply oil from your mid-lengths to your ends for a glossier outcome. Start with dark and end with warm brown with this chestnut hair color. The ashier brown shade of these roots brings mood and depth to this color.

When done right, this technique can provide your mane with the right amount of contrast to really emphasize your chestnut brown hair color and provide tons of dimension. This toasty warm reddish brown is a beautiful hue for any skin tone and may be just the right color to totally makeover your mane. Mahogany brown is also similar to deeper shades of chestnut brown. Like chestnut, mahogany features reddish undertones that give it a slightly auburn tone, especially in sunlight. Mahogany doesn’t feature the same golden tones as chestnut, however. In Europe, in general, 60% to 80% of the population has light-colored hair in the Scandinavian countries of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

The warm blonde ends on this one are gorgeous and look even more impressive if your hair is wavy or even a bit curly. Fans of brilliant copper tones will want to incorporate more copper brown into the hue for a sparkling, dimensional shade that looks alive. Golden copper glitters in the sunlight to show you a new version of your color every time sunbeams hit your strands.

Painted chestnut and mahogany balayage begins to show halfway down the hair, and even redder bits—think sangria—are added in to give the color dimension and bounce. This dimensional chestnut hair color features a cool-toned chestnut hue with both cooler tones and warmer tones throughout for dimension, according to Colombini. Baby lights are the new norm if you don’t want highlights that are too bold or too visible in our dark chestnut hair color. These ones are there simply to bring a certain charm to the look and to be more visible under the sunlight.

The Chestnut Hair-Color Trend For Fall and Winter

It is a brighter shade of brown than standard brown hair, but not as red in color as auburn hair, which has lighter and more easily visible red tones to it. This is a warm chestnut brown hair with very subtle, natural-looking highlights. If you don’t want to look like your hair is dyed or go extremely red, this is a stunning balance.

Reddish Brown With Slightly Lighter Ends

Essentially, the style refers to highlights strategically placed in front to “contour” your face and highlight your lovely features. If you’re a natural redhead, you’re one of the luckiest gals in the world. Nevertheless, you can recreate the look if you have a pale complexion.

Face-Framing Chestnut Shadow

Take a few pictures after you get your hair done, preferably in well-lighted areas. If your hair looks dull where the light hits it, start stocking up on shine treatments and serums that you can use on the daily basis. Here’s a great example of mixing red highlights with chestnut to get the best of both worlds. Red dye tends to fade fast, but mixing chestnut, auburn, and even a little of golden brown will keep your color rich and vibrant for much longer.

Chestnut Hair Color With Blonde Highlights

chesnut hair

To start, we have a selection of light chestnut shades, like this balayage which also has some nice golden tones in it. The overall look is spectacular and definitely worth trying, especially if you don’t really want dark hair or a very light shade of blonde. If you want to maintain a deep brunette shade, but give it a very subtle hint of warmth, try out a chocolate hair color with faint golden undertones. This is a great option for people with cool undertones in their skin because the slight warmth in the hair color won’t create too much of a contrast.

Gabrielle Union sported big chestnut curls at the CFDA Fashion Awards, and we fell in love. The transition from dark chestnut to auburn is stunning with her skin tone, too. The only disadvantage I have found to having darker colored hair is that the gray hairs are more pronounced.

A dark-to-light chestnut hair color has become a classic dye job recently. Everything blends together to create a smooth gradient style. If you have black hair, this is a very easy style to recreate. A dark, rich chestnut hair color with some very subtle red and gold highlights ought to do the trick.

It offers a darker shade on its roots to let your natural black hair grow out. If you have long and thick hair, this trend works great, especially when you style it with hair products for classy waves. Working from a natural light brunette, your stylist will decide to keep you at your natural level and add warmth or a level or two lighter with natural warmth. When going from blonde to the toasted chestnut color, your stylist will do a deep gloss with neutral, warm, and gold tones.

Chestnut Brown Tint For Dark Hair

If you’re a fan of longer hair and elegance combine the best of both worlds and rock this chestnut design. Hot chocolate colors such as this one will make you look like a true elegant diva. Long & loose waves will look so feminine and perfect for night-outs or formal wear.

Numerous Highlights

If you want to play with chestnut tones while sticking with an overall light color, you’ll love a light chestnut shade. If you want to DIY at home, use the L’Oréal Paris Féria in Dark Gold Blonde, which is a deep blonde shade with warm chestnut undertones. Why choose between medium and light shades of chestnut when you can have both? This balayage color transitions from a deeper brown-heavy chestnut with faint reddish tones into a lighter golden-copper chestnut at the ends.

But you might find that it’s most flattering to choose lighter chestnut shades for lighter skin and deeper, richer chestnut shades for medium and deep skin tones. With 3 discernible colors in the mix (brown, gold, and red), chestnut brown has so many color variations and shades to consider. It’s also the perfect shade of brown to pair with other hair colors for multi-toned balayage, ombre, or highlighted looks. The gold or yellow undertones in chestnut brown offer warmth and lighten the brown shade to make it a medium or light brown. The red undertones in chestnut brown also add warmth, depth, and dimension to give the color a very slight reddish tint.

Elizabeth Olsen's hair, which looks like a shiny chestnut waterfall, leaves us speechless. For a warm, coppery take on Olsen's shade, Bryant recommends Christophe Robin Shade Variation Mask in Chic Copper ($53). Another shade that will leave your mouth watering from thinking about treats is this cinnamon hair color. Brown has a brown undertone, whereas chestnut has an intensive reddish-brown undertone, similar to that of a chestnut.

More Songfacts:

The chorus also reveals a deep sense of loyalty as Sheeran sings about having someone to keep him warm when it’s dark and cold outside. This may refer to a romantic relationship, but it could also refer to a close friendship or family member. Regardless of the type of relationship, the song is all about the importance of having someone who you can rely on and who will be there for you when times get tough. By following the metaphor of building a “Lego house,” Sheeran suggests that relationships are somewhat fragile and require constant rebuilding and maintenance. So the next time you find yourself feeling lost or broken, remember the powerful message behind “Lego House”. The line, “If things go wrong, we can knock it down,” reminded me of the importance of forgiveness and being open to second chances.

Another standout line in the song is, “I’m gonna paint you by numbers and color you in.” This imagery symbolizes the act of putting effort and love into a relationship, even if it may seem ordinary or mundane. The music video features Rupert Grint (Ron from Harry Potter) portraying a stalking, look-alike fan. It is important to note that the actual song is not about a stalker—it is about a break up. The message of Lego House is about the importance of human connections and relationships. The song reminds us that we do not have to go through difficult times alone, and that having someone who cares about us and is willing to help us is one of the most valuable things in life. The line “If you’re broken, I will mend you” shows a willingness to be there for someone regardless of their circumstances.

What is the significance of “My three words have two meanings”?

Through its heartfelt lyrics and captivating melody, the song captures the universal experience of rebuilding after a broken relationship. It serves as a reminder that love is not always easy, but with patience, forgiveness, and a willingness to start over, we can create something truly beautiful. The song allowed me to reflect on my own relationships, both the ones that were successful and the ones that fell apart. It reminded me that love is a journey, and even when things go wrong, we have the power to pick up the pieces and build something beautiful. When I first heard “Lego House” by Ed Sheeran, I was instantly captivated by its raw emotion and relatable lyrics. The song resonated with me on a personal level, as I had experienced my fair share of heartbreak and longing in my own relationships.

Overall, “Lego House” is a song about second chances, growth, and the enduring power of love. design criteria

Explain the terms “criteria” and “constraints.” Criteria are things the design needs to do in order to be successful–its requirements. These may be materials available, the cost of the materials, the amount of time they have to develop the solution, etc. It might combine solutions from different areas in an inventive way not seen before. Good designers consider them in every solution that they choose to implement.

Identify the needs and goals

Another approach is to use a scoring system, in which criteria are ranked in order of importance. To prepare to organize and write your evaluation, it is important to clearly define the criteria you are using to make your judgments. These criteria govern the direction of the evaluation and provide structure and justification for the judgments you make. They might also be used to help identify suitable individuals when seeking new employees. Mark contributions as unhelpful if you find them irrelevant or not valuable to the article.

The golden filter of UX design

Efficacity is measured by counting how many times a user doesn’t finish a task either by dropping out or because they made too many errors. To continue on the example, a car can have less efficacity than a bike if the users can’t find a place to park to complete their trip. Because it matches the resting position of the user’s arms and allows a large movement amplitude. Because seats were designed with the minimum acceptable space in mind.

A product’s aesthetic quality is also important, because the products we use every day affect our person and our well-being.

If it does neither of these things, then it likely isn’t a good design. The second consideration is whether the design helps people accomplish a specific goal. The third factor to consider is whether the design adds value to the experience. Finally, it’s important to ask whether the design is better than the alternative. There is no definitive answer to this question as it can depend on the architect and the specific project.

This resulted in some absurd situations, like French soldiers sitting in tanks on each other’s shoulders to drive and operate the cannon simultaneously. It seems obvious that a design that would be out of reach for the user’s limbs or too hard to understand for the user’s mind would be bad. That’s why researchers defined a few metrics and regulations to serve as a basis for any product. There’s a thin line between what you can “objectively” judge in design and its subjective nuances. But when you evaluate the effectiveness of a design, it’s essential to consider both holistically.

There are a bunch of criteria like this that researchers found to impact our subjective judgment. Personality, culture, and history condition what people like or dislike. An introvert and an extrovert will not like the same kind of design, or rather, they can like the same kind of design but not for the same reason.

Ultimately this helped us to create a more consistent and user-centric product. Establishing design criteria is the third step of the EDP and the final step of the design analysis stage (Figure 3.1). All projects need targets and goals that describe features and characteristics of the design. These goals drive design decisions as the solution is developed.

Referring to heuristics is really the basis of any audit in UX design. Even if they are not strict rules, the way to follow them can take a lot of forms. Designers must answer them one way or another if they want to create a good product. They provide a structured framework for assessing usability, accessibility, and adherence to established standards. These criteria, rooted in principles such as anthropometry, heuristics, and standardized norms like ISO 9241, offer a tangible basis for evaluation. Permits storing data to personalize content and ads across Google services based on user behavior, enhancing overall user experience.

From the business motives, we decide what our purpose is and which goals and objectives we want to achieve. We turn those into a business strategy so we know how to solve the problem. Seeing how things could go wrong in practice made me realise how important design guidelines can be.

Design criteria provide specific guidance on the big questions that are at the heart of the problem and that require a solution. … They also give a measuring stick with which to assess solutions when you search for them, or have to invent them. Design criteria are the explicit goals that a project must achieve in order to be successful. … Primary criteria are those that constitute a successful project; the project will be unsuccessful if it does not meet these goals.

A bill that would force a sale of TikTok by its Chinese owner, ByteDance — or ban it outright — was passed by the Senate on Tuesday and signed into law Wednesday by President Biden. But flouting the rules landed him a permanent spot on the roster of great Pacific Northwest architects. After Seattle Parks and Recreation purchased Saint Mark’s Greenbelt in 1998, Historic Seattle acquired the building and restored it, repainting it in its original white, black, and red.

It’s also unclear who has the resources to buy TikTok, since it will carry a hefty price tag. President Biden has signed the bill to force a sale of the video app or ban it. Now the law faces court challenges, a shortage of qualified buyers and Beijing’s hostility. The building’s steeply angled roof serves as a ceiling for the top two stories. In the middle floor of the house, two skylights bathe a mod, white-tiled kitchen in natural light. Greenery visible through a wide, low-slung window keeps the space from feeling too stark.

Whether you're picking up a quick espresso at Analog Coffee in Capitol Hill or venturing out for a leisurely sip at Caffe Lardo before checking out the view at Kerry Park, coffee in Seattle is a must. Next, it's time to explore one of the many unique museums in the city like the Seattle Art Museum, the Asian Art Museum or the popular Frye Art Museum. Finish up your day of exploration by grabbing dinner at one of Seattle's world class restaurants. Whether you're in the mood for delicious seafood at Elliot's Oyster House or want to indulge in the tasting menu at Altura, you're sure to find an option to satisfy your hunger in Seattle. I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Congress passed the measure citing national security concerns because of TikTok’s Chinese ties.

Disney Alaska Cruise Reviews 2023 UPDATED: Ratings of Disney Cruises to Alaska

disney cruise alaska excursions

Reservations for Royal Gathering open 30 days before the sail date for all guests, regardless of Castaway Club status. Book this popular onboard activity right at 30 days for the best chance of reservations. Castaway Club status determines when online check-in is available for guests. Online check-in is an important step for anyone sailing on Disney Cruise Line since this is when guests choose a port arrival time.

Do any Disney Alaska Cruises leave from Seattle?

On board and excursion booking windows vary by Castaway Cay Club status with higher status and concierge guests booking further ahead of time. Each port has a range of potential excursions from simple sightseeing to ziplining, helicopter rides, and other active options. Excursion descriptions on Disney’s website have an overview of what to expect, mobility or age restrictions, and prices. Everyone flying into Canada must have a valid passport to enter.

Hubbard Glacier

Disney Cruise Line’s current Alaska-designated ship is the Disney Wonder; one of our favorite ships. If you’ve never sailed on this boat, be sure to check out our posts for everything you need to know about the Disney Wonder to help you feel at home onboard. Disney Cruise Line does not depart from Seattle, as they depart from Vancouver, Canada. However, there are other Cruises to Alaska that depart from Seattle. Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean all offer roundtrip Alaska cruises that sail from Seattle, Washington.

Exploring Skagway’s Gold Rush History and Nearby Attractions

If you wish to add air travel, ground transportation, or a hotel stay, please contact Disney Cruise Line or work with a Disney travel planner like The Vacationeer. For those who prefer a more traditional mode of transportation, taxis are readily available at the airport and provide the same level of convenience without needing your phone. The drawback is cabs can be more expensive than alternatives like Uber and Lyft. For those embarking on a Disney Alaskan cruise from Vancouver, flying into the city is the preferred mode of transportation. Luckily, the Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal, which serves as the embarkation point, is conveniently situated near Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

You can see Disney Alaska Cruise 2022 Prices here to see how they changed from the release date to right up to before sailing. The usual advice prior to 2022 was that you should always book a Disney Cruise as close to the opening date as possible as the prices were likely to go up considerably over time. There is no easy answer to this – as pricing patterns have changed since sailings restarted. All the Disney Wonder Alaska Cruises sail from the port of Vancouver, Canada. Everyone is encouraged to sketch a character on a special paper when they arrive for dinner. Through Disney magic these characters are animated and come to life on the screens surrounding the restaurant during dinner.

Is Skagway walkable from the cruise port?

We switched up our breakfast plans and tried Triton’s today. It’s a smaller menu than the substantial Cabanas buffet, but with a few items you won’t find at Cabanas (in case you can’t tell, I didn’t take a picture of the menu, sorry). We much preferred the quick and plentiful options at Cabanas to get our day started. We did laundry twice (mostly because of my running clothes and Emily and Zoe’s swimsuits). Notifications are supposed to come through the app when your washer/dryer finishes. The kiosks in the laundry rooms also tell you how many available machines there are in the other laundry rooms.

Airport Tips Porters

There are three laundry rooms on the Disney Wonder, on Decks 2, 6, and 7 midship. There was a kiosk in the laundry room that allowed you to charge these items back to your stateroom. Deck 4 also has a “running track.” It’s something like 0.3 miles and always prone to people who don’t know how to handle a shared run/walk space like that. Your GPS will also be worse than useless when the ship is moving. (FWIW, I’ve run the deck of the Disney Dream before and it ruined all my ‘Personal Bests’ in my running apps.) It’s also an outside space subject to the elements. A 0.3 mile loop means lots of turns, which means lots of opportunities to slip.

Skagway also offers shopping enthusiasts an opportunity to browse a wide variety of unique souvenirs and hand-made goods. Handcrafted jewelry and authentic Native Alaskan artwork both make unique and stunning keepsakes. Plenty of stores offer the latest outdoor gear and clothing, which can come in handy if you forget anything. Skagway has numerous options for bike rentals and cycling tours. One of the best options is to cycle through the surrounding rainforest. While it may seem strange to think of such a notoriously cold area with a rainforest, the dense forests surrounding the town are classified as temperate rainforests.

Look no further than The Vacationeer, one of the best Disney travel agencies with years of experience and exceptional customer service. We hand-pick everything we recommend and select items through testing and reviews. Some products are sent to us free of charge with no incentive to offer a favorable review.

Overall, Vancouver’s ideal location and superb facilities make it the perfect starting point for an unforgettable Disney cruise to Alaska. Disney Cruise Line has a unique dining rotation system, where guests switch to a different restaurant each night while keeping the same table number and waitstaff throughout their voyage. The Vacationeer isn’t limited to Alaskan itineraries alone. Are you considering a Disney Alaskan cruise and need help deciding between itineraries for 2024 or 2025?

Here you can catch a saloon show or hop on the White Pass scenic railway for a journey deep into Yukon territory. Take a 30-minute scenic motorcoach ride to Knudson Cove, where you’ll board a Sea Hawk rigid-inflatable boat for a half-hour wildlife and sightseeing ride. Next, you’ll make your way to Orca Beach and a remote island rainforest. Your knowledgeable guide leads you through forest trails and a few built-in steps as you learn about native plant species and their importance to the early native people of this area. No one disputes that airfare to Vancouver and the cost of the Disney Cruise itself are already significant expenses.

Some of your favorite Disney characters will join you on your hunt for gold. Next, gather around the campfire and roast marshmallows or take a photo with your Disney friends. Next comes an all-you-care-to-eat feast that includes wild Alaskan-caught salmon, among other favorites. We also felt like we needed a break, so booking a Brunch at Palo for our last day at sea was something we had been looking forward to the whole trip.

10 Dos and Donts for your Disney Alaska Cruise

disney cruise alaska excursions

As I’ve noted before, the Vancouver cruise terminal has a great location. We were staying at the Fairmont at the airport, but that was only an 11-minute walk to the train station plus a 30-minute train ride. It wasn’t huge, but it was a good spot to spend about 30 minutes. We waited 8 minutes for the bus and it was only a 6-minute bus ride away. For our itinerary, there were two times for the Glacier Explorer excursion, an early time and a late time.

Check The Prohibited Items List

There are many excursion options at each port, but some fill up more quickly than others. For example, a tender boat excursion where guests take a ramp off the Disney Cruise Line ship onto a waiting boat for close up glacier viewing is one that routinely sells out. Excursion and on board activity reservations open as early as 120 days before the cruise so it’s wise to research options ahead of time. Disney Alaskan cruises are extremely popular bucket-list vacations. Many people reserve their Alaska sailings as soon as the booking window opens for the best prices and room locations.

General Disney Cruise to Alaska Tips

For two people an interior room costs $4,708.94 while an exterior Deluxe Verandah 5C category room with an unobstructed view and regular balcony size $11,148.94. Disney Cruise Line offers multiple Alaska itineraries that range from five to nine nights. Our recent Disney Cruise to Alaska was a seven night itinerary. The seven night Disney Alaska cruise is offered the most of any of the lengths of sailings. If it’s your first time cruising with Disney, you can book your Port Adventures 75 days prior to your sail date.

Disney Cruises Ships

Skagway sits on the Lynn Canal, North America’s longest and deepest fjord. Numerous tour operators can provide safe and guided rafting experiences. Given the town’s small size, do not expect to be able to summon rideshare services like Uber and Lyft.

It was fun to look out the window and see where we were, but honestly, I'd happily sail in an interior room if it meant we got to do the cruise all over again. If you're planning your day around the photo sessions, don't choose the morning option if you care about background because you'll likely not be right up to the glacier, snow and ice yet. With our cruising crew now off the ship and back home in the lower 48, here are 10 things to know before you set sail on a Disney Alaska cruise. This market place of food and artisans is absolutely a tourist trap but is one for good reason. On our clear skies day the market was crowded with locals and tourists enjoying the sun, food and entertainment.

Uber fares from Vancouver International Airport to Disney’s Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal can vary depending on the vehicle you choose, and the distance traveled. The following is an estimate of fares between YVR and the Disney Cruise Line Terminal at Port of Vancouver’s Canada Place cruise terminal. Please remember that these figures are estimates and that the final fare may vary due to traffic, surge pricing, and other factors. One popular and convenient method is using ridesharing apps like Uber or Lyft. After landing at the airport, passengers can easily request a ride through the app. Ridesharing services are convenient and generally more affordable than taxis and shuttles.

Spend Time In Vancouver Before Your Cruise

Visiting Skagway offers cruise passengers a wide range of outdoor adventure and exploration opportunities. Beyond Skagway’s small-town charm and famed ties to the Gold Rush Era, the surrounding area offers breathtaking views of the rugged Alaskan wilderness. For many (us included), this was the “it” factor that prompted us to book the excursion. As mentioned above, I’d heard a lot that a verandah is a “must have” for the Alaska cruise, and I just didn’t feel that way. The idea is basically that, specifically for the first day at sea and the Glacier Viewing day, the views around the ship are absolutely stunning.

We offer our unbiased opinions and do not accept compensation to review products. All items are in stock and prices are accurate at the time of publication. If you buy something through our links, we may earn a commission. The themed restaurants aboard the Wonder are extraordinarily thought-through and exist for much more than just feeding you. Take Tiana’s Place, based on The Princess and the Frog, a movie in which the title character dreams of opening a restaurant in New Orleans. At each port, there’s souvenir shop after souvenir shop, giving you no excuse to come home empty-handed.

Cruises

I intended to cancel it after I reviewed my plans, but I was surprised to find the “3 day” cancellation period was 3 days before the cruise departure, not 3 days before the excursion. There were only a few people ahead of me at the Port Adventures desk. The Cast Member there was able to cancel my booking after a short consult with a superior. Personally, I don’t think any of the three of us is too excited to see glaciers, but it’s also just sort of an “Alaska Cruise Must Do” item. Specifically, many of the Alaska itineraries (including ours) have a day dedicated specifically to glacier viewing.

But we made it, and going with the current on the way back was heavenly. Our guides were very patient, and pointed out all kinds of wildlife on the way. We ended the trip with smoked salmon and snacks on the boat!

We loved all of our Disney Alaska Cruise excursions and felt like they were the right choice for our family and friends. There’s tons of options, but here’s a quick overview of what we did. If you don’t get your preferred reservations, keep checking back. Sometimes availability is added closer to the sail date or as other guests cancel. Hotels near Canada Place are in-demand with all Alaska cruise lines guests. Easy access to Canada Place on embarkation day and a limited number of hotels within walking distance make prices soar and availability plummet much earlier than you’d expect.

There’s also a messaging service available within the app while you’re onboard. With the cruise booked, the next step is booking your onboard activities and excursions. This is different from and usually earlier than check-in, which we’ll discuss later. There are over of excursions for Disney Cruises to Alaska (over 200!). Guests can opt for the most extravagant helicopter ride to dog sledding or just enjoy a leisurely walk around town.

By far our favorite Alaskan port, Skagway is home to the astounding history of the Gold Rush. While this little town may look a bit sleepy, there is so much history here that it’s completely worth the deep dive. And you really get the rich storytelling when you book the excursion we did. Of course, there are also several things to do in Skagway on your own if you’re skipping the Port Excursions. From walking trails, to museums, and history placards littered among the streets, there is plenty to do here if you’re up for browsing. No Disney Cruise would be complete without a Sail Away Party, and sailing away to Alaska is something to celebrate!

Local resident Deidre Rahming came up with the winning name in a contest that was open to all residents of Grand Bahama Island. The word "Lokono" means "the people", and is derived from the Lucayan peoples who were among the first to call the island of Grand Bahama home. One of five distinct portals, or areas, on Celebration Key, Lokono Cove will host the cruise destination's retail and shopping areas in an authentic Bahamian artisan market hosting everything from handcrafts to jewellery. While Carnival theoretically could create itineraries calling only at its own ports, Stein said there are good reasons to go elsewhere. The big news for Carnival Cruise Line for 2025 will be the July opening of Celebration Key. Eighteen ships sailing from 10 different homeports will be calling at Carnival’s new destination in the Bahamas, Fred Stein, vice president of planning and deployment, told Cruise Industry News. A cruise ship exhaust funnel works as a smokestack to lift emissions away from the deck and from passengers and crew.

It was intended to call on the Carnival private island of Princess Cay but had rerouted toward Freeport due to adverse weather. We are elated to welcome Carnival Firenze to the Carnival fleet, joining her sister Carnival Venezia to showcase ‘Carnival Fun Italian Style,’” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Vista rejoins fellow vessels Carnival Freedom, Carnival Liberty and Carnival Mardi Gras to complete the cruise line's four ship deployment in Central Florida. Upon returning to Port Canaveral, Carnival Vista will embark on round-trip, six- to eight-night itineraries, visiting destinations like Halfmoon Cay, Grand Turk, Aruba, San Juan, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. The Casino, for instance, has been expanded with a new layout and a separate non-smoking annex. Held in the Jubilee Theater, spanning decks 6 & 7, guests were treated to a festive rope trick and whip cracker show performed by world champion (and YouTuber) Will Fitzpatrick.

Carnival initially said there were no expected changes in its schedule but on Sunday afternoon announced cancellations of the Monday and Friday cruises out of Port Canaveral, which come during a busy spring break period. Carnival Jubilee's naming ceremony is scheduled to take place on Feb. 24 in Galveston, the ship's homeport. Ship christenings are a maritime tradition thought to bring luck to those onboard. Carnival Cruise Line announced today that the 4,000-passenger ship is returning to its homeport of Port Canaveral to resume its Caribbean itineraries.

The cruise company signed an agreement with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to build the as of yet unnamed ship, which is Carnival's first newbuild order in five years. Stefani christened the ship -- a ceremony meant to bring luck and protection to those onboard – with her signature flair. With the help of Fitzpatrick, who lassoed a rope around the Carnival Jubilee lever, Stefani gave it a pull and sent a flying bottle of champagne crashing into the ship with a celebratory splash.
